Summary

Information about how to move, create or stop a public right of way (footpath).

The Rights of Way Officer  can advise on proposals to extinguish, divert or create public footpaths, bridleways and restricted byways within the Babergh District including those footpaths, bridleways and restricted byways which may require to be stopped-up or diverted as a result of proposed development under Town and Country Planning legislation.

Please read the guidance notes (PDF, 19Kb) and, where necessary, complete the consent forms (PDF, 10Kb) prior to completing your application.  Please note that a plan to 1:2500 scale must accompany your application.

All applicants are strongly recommended to discuss their proposals with their local representative of the Ramblers Association: List of Ramblers Association representatives (PDF, 32Kb).
