The 2012 Village of the Year awards are open to any Suffolk village with an electoral roll population of between 501 andf 1250 residents.
Judging will take place in June for each of the districts within the county, Winning villages in each district move on the the second round and finally three communites go head to head for the final county round that is judged in July or August.
Jo Beever, Babergh’s Community Grants Officer, said: “Babergh has 19 parishes that fall within the population bracket and I invite all of them to consider entering the competition. Details will be sent out to all those parishes over the next few weeks".
Last year Tattingstone emerged winners for Babergh and went on to scoop first prize in the county round. Congratulations for them for the hard work that went into making Tattingstone a great place to live.
Babergh’s judging panel will be made up of four district councillors who will mark villages for community spirit, general appearance, their natural environment, how well their parish council is run and special activities going on in the village..
