Babergh, in partnership with the Suffolk Development Agency provides a web-based research tool for identifying key information about the district, called the Suffolk Observatory. A range of information can be found on the website under the following themes:
- Census 2001 – several domains
- Crime - various crime rates etc
- Demographics – population estimates, population by age estimates etc
- Deprivation – Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), disability and income support claimants etc
- Economic – house prices, VAT statistics, GVA per head etc
- Education – A Level, GCSE and primary attainment, year 11 destination etc
- Health – mortality rates, life expectancy, teenage conceptions etc
- Labour market – unemployment rate, economic activity rate etc
The output data can be at ward, district and county levels, depending on the original area of measurement. A mapping tool is also available. A number of tailored reports are available on the website examining particular issues in the County including a profile of Babergh.
